Imperfections are completely normal a few weeks after the first microblading session. There may be some gaps and patches and the color may lighten more than intended in certain areas. After the Initial Microblading Session, we let the skin fully recover and have our clients return 4-8 weeks later to complete the process. This second session is called the “Touch-Up”.

Microblading work is very precise because we push the ink into the very top layers of your skin. Even the most experienced artist cannot always predict how your skin will retain the micro-pigments on all areas of your brow. Oilier skin, faster metabolism, stronger immune system, and poor aftercare will affect the color retention because those immune responses/improper healing will push pigment out. Certain areas may not retain as well as others for a wide variety of reasons. Everyone is different and so is their skin! This is why the touch-up is so important – the artist has a better understanding of the skin of the client, and can perfect results with ease. For this reason, it is also super important that the Touch-Up is done by the artist who performed the Initial Session.

The touch-up may only require adding a few lines, but may take just as long as the initial session if we need to go over the entire brow. If the skin still resists to retain pigment, we sometimes need one extra touch-up session, but that is rare!

Some artists/salons will charge a single fee for both appointments, but we at The Beauty Attic have separated payments because not everyone decides to come back for the Touch Up if they are happy with the results.
